'26 Girls' Volleyball

Girl's volleyball programs will run late February-late April. Actual season dates will vary depending on grade-level and coach availability. The purpose of this program is to provide an introduction to the sport of volleyball. Rules and skills covered are adjusted per age-level to be developmentally appropriate and safe, while learning, effort, teamwork, sportsmanship and fun will be emphasized.

Goal: To improve volleyball knowledge, skills and strengthen the WASD’s volleyball program as a whole.

3rd- 4th grade: Everyone has near or equal playing time. Athletes will learn all positions and will learn the basics of volleyball (passing and serving).

5th- 6th grade: Everyone has near or equal playing time (may not be equal as defined by Merriam-Webster Dictionary). Athletes will continue working on the basics of volleyball (passing, serving, driving). Athletes will learn all positions.

7th-8th grade: Specialization at positions will occur. Playing time may not be equal. Athletes will be exposed to all positions and continue working on the basics (Passing, Serving, Setting and Hitting).

Practices will be scheduled by the coach and will work around School Sanctioned Sports (6-8th grade) with practices happening no more than 2x week. Practices will be held at Westby Elementary unless otherwise communicated by the coaches.

Tournaments are held on weekends.

3rd grade will not travel and only work on skills and developing knowledge of volleyball.

4th grade will have fun days/play dates through the Driftless League.

5th grade will have fun days/play dates through the Driftless League.

6th grade will participate in 4 driftless dates.

7th and 8th graders will participate in 4 tournaments either through WIVL or the Driftless League.

Grades 3-5 $20 Grades 6-8 $75 $5 family discount per additional player with a family max payment of $125
